Pay only for what Selene does

Hiring is spiky — three roles this quarter, none the next. Most hiring software charges you the same either way. Selene doesn't: a $1/year plan unlocks the full product and includes free credits to start, and after that you pay only as she works. No per-seat fees, no monthly SaaS bill, cancel anytime.

The model

Simple, usage-based credits

Credits are the unit of Selene's work. You buy them, and you spend them as she works — the bigger the job, the more they draw.

🔑

$1/year to unlock

A $1/year plan unlocks the full product and includes free credits — enough to set up a role, build a scoring guide, and screen your first batch of candidates. It renews once a year; cancel anytime.

Priced by the work

A quick question draws a little; screening a full batch or building a scoring guide draws more. You pay in proportion to the work Selene does for you.

📊

Charged from real usage

Each action is billed from the actual work it took, after it runs — never an up-front estimate. Lighter tasks cost less, bigger ones a little more. You only ever pay for what you used, and a month with no hiring in it costs you nothing beyond the annual dollar.

What it actually costs

Real numbers, from real usage

These are measured averages from real Selene usage — not list prices. Treat every figure as an estimate: what you actually spend depends on how complex the role is, how much back-and-forth you want while setting it up, and how long the CVs are.

Setting up a role

~100 credits

A one-off cost, the first time you hire for a role. Typically:

  • ~50–80 — talking the role through with Selene until the requirements are right
  • ~15 — building the scoring guide she judges every CV against
  • ~3–6 — writing the job ad

Hire for the same role again and you skip nearly all of this.

Each candidate

~5 credits

The number that scales with your applicant volume:

  • ~1 — reading and structuring the CV
  • ~4 — scoring it against every criterion, with evidence and gaps

A 60-applicant role draws roughly 300 credits of screening.

A worked example

One role, 60 applicants ≈ 400 credits ≈ $20

Set the role up (~100 credits), then screen 60 people (~300). That is a single $20 top-up for a complete hire, from brief to shortlist. Hire for that role again and the setup is already done, so the next 60 applicants cost about $15.

Topping up

Credit packs

Buy credits when you need them. No subscription beyond the $1/year plan, no per-seat fee, and credits stay valid for 12 months.

Starting out

What your free credits cover

200 free credits, included with the $1/year plan

Enough to set up one real role and screen roughly 20 candidates — a genuine trial of the thing Selene actually does, not a demo.

If your first role draws more applicants than that, you will reach zero partway through. Selene stops rather than charging you by surprise, warns you in plain language before you get there — “about enough for 5 more candidates” — and a $20 top-up covers the rest of a typical role.

No surprises

The fine print, up front

A hard stop at zero

Selene never spends credits you don't have. When your balance reaches zero, new AI actions stop — there's no automatic charge when your free credits run out.

A heads-up before you run low

As your balance gets low, Selene flags it in plain language — "about enough for 5 more candidates" — so you can top up on your own terms, never mid-surprise.

Credits valid for 12 months

Credits are valid for 12 months from the date they're granted or purchased, and the expiry for each batch is always visible in your billing wallet.

Cost-aware on big batches

Bulk actions — like importing and scoring a batch of CVs — show a cost estimate and ask for a single confirmation before they run.

Cancel anytime

The $1/year plan renews once a year, and you can cancel whenever you like. Cancelling pauses your access, but your unused credits keep their normal 12-month expiry — resubscribe before then and everything's right where you left off.

30-day money-back guarantee

If it isn't right for you, you can get your money back on the $1/year plan and on any credits you haven't used, within 30 days of the charge. Full details in our Refund Policy.

In practice

You always know where you stand

Set up a role, screen a batch of applicants, and your credit balance updates in the header as you go. When it's running low, Selene tells you in plain language — "about enough for 5 more candidates" — so a session ends when you're ready, not by surprise. Everything is billed in USD, and taxes are handled at checkout.

Pricing FAQ

The details

Is there a subscription or monthly fee?

The only recurring charge is a $1/year plan — it unlocks the product and includes your free credits to start. Beyond that, Selene is purely usage-based: no monthly SaaS fee, no per-seat charge, no minimums. You buy credits and spend them as she works.

How is the cost of an action decided?

Each AI action is charged from the actual work it takes to run, using the current rate — then rounded up to the nearest whole credit. Because it's based on real usage, a short task costs less than a long one. You're charged after the action completes, never with an up-front estimate for individual actions.

What happens when my credits run out?

New AI actions stop until you add more credits. There's no automatic charge when your free credits run out — you stay in control of when you top up.

Do credits expire?

Yes — credits are valid for 12 months from the date they're granted or purchased. The expiry date for each batch is always visible in your billing wallet, and credits are never expired silently.

How do I buy more credits?

When you need more, you top up in a few clicks from your billing settings. Top-ups are billed in USD, with tax handled at checkout.

What happens if I cancel the $1/year plan?

You can cancel anytime. When you do, your account pauses — access is suspended and your unused credits are set aside. They keep their normal 12-month expiry, so if you resubscribe before then, your balance and everything else is right where you left off.

Can I get a refund?

Yes — we offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. Within 30 days of a charge you can get a full refund of the $1/year plan (including renewals) and a refund of any credits from that purchase you haven't used yet, at the price you paid. Credits you've already spent aren't refundable, because the AI work they paid for has been done — but if you were charged for work that failed or was billed in error, we'll always put that right. See our Refund Policy.

Can I control spend on large batches?

Yes. Bulk operations show a cost estimate and require one confirmation before they run, and the hard stop at zero means Selene never spends beyond your balance.
